Brett’s War Journal #5
It’s been a while since my last entry, but for a very good reason. I’m hard at work with the sequel to At All Costs, planning out the audiobook version, scheduling media interviews and local appearances. I got a little sidetracked with work taking over my life for 63 hours this week and a weeklong visit from the flu didn’t help either. Nonetheless, I’m working hard and getting things done. So, what do I have to show for all this work? Let’s break it down.
I kicked off what I hope to be a series of media interviews with an excellent phone call with Peyton Bell from the UWM Post – article expected the first week of February. Peyton was a most excellent interviewer, and I have a feeling he’s got what it takes to make it in the world of journalism. Best of luck to you, Peyton. Can’t wait to read the story!
As I had mentioned, I’ve been hard at work on the sequel to At All Costs. The story, tentatively titled Hallowed Ground, is going through a major change with the second draft. I made the tough but meaningful decision to slice and dice my novel Honest Hearts and distribute its contents into Book 2 and 3. While it took a lot of guts and I had some remorse at first, I believe I made the right decision. Hallowed Ground inherited some great battle scenes, and the other new additions better fleshed out Aleksey’s new relationship – not revealing who she is just yet, so you’ll have to read At All Costs first. As for book 3, that story was made whole with the Honest Hearts content. I can’t go into detail since it would reveal way too much about the events in the first two stories, so hang tight.
Last but not least, the day has finally arrived. After twenty years of putting my crazy thoughts to paper and word process, I’ve finally done it. I published my first full length novel. At All Costs is available worldwide through Amazon in paperback, hardcover, and kindle – also available in pdf/ebook via Lulu Publishing. While I’m extremely excited to see one of my novels sent out to the world, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. It takes a lot of guts to put your work out there like this, but the time is right. At All Costs goes live at midnight, February 1st, 2025. Mission accomplished.
